A dream come true

2016, November. A worthy wait indeed. It was my first visit to the city of temples, Bishnupur, West Bengal.
With a heart full of desire to get a home filled with mirth and laughter for all the five days of festivities, I couldn't thank everyone of the family, enough.
For us, the festive season would commence with the arrival of Durga Puja and it would end with the dying lights, and the city getting back to their mundane days. Life would go on again..... But now, life has an added opportunity for me to spring back to the festive mood, even after the Durga Pujas.
To be a part of a household doing a grand Puja every year, was a dream for me, and this was made true in 2016. Innumerable stories about the Puja, about the ancestors; becomes a part of you once you enter the house.
The old mansion grandeur, a long history of rivalry, the history and wonderful stories all made up to what I wished and yearned. Over the years, I have just been really anxious about attending this five days grand festival. And now, I am here to be a part of it every year, wherever I might be located.
History unravels here with the festival aging for centuries. The long, cold nights seems endless with the preparations on and the Goddess being evoked and worshipped. The remaining days just fly away with some yummy bhog served almost everyday and a mandatory dinner outside the house. A festival where the little ones wait all through the year only to enjoy to the fullest.
I feel truly blessed to acquire a small place in this family and be a part of this festivity every year. The enigma of the festival has enthralled me with its opulence and grandeur.

The fasting which lasts for almost a span of 24 hours, or sometimes even more is never backbreaking. Ma sees to it all. The long sleepless nights wishes us to stay back and enjoy. Alas, we have to return and revive our lives and wait for another year of unlimited fun, adda and mirth.

A big thanks and hugs to my husband for making me a part of this joy and grace. Without you, this would not have ever been achieved.

And let's take a tour of the aura....
                                                             Our family Goddess, Ma.
And bidding adieu to the days of laughter and bliss.
